Clapping In Irons is an Irish punk band from Maine brining the hard-working and fun nature of New England to the style with a mixture of attitude, pub songs, sea shanties and a rockabilly flair.
After moving back from Rhode Island, Andrew Martin and Kavan Gervais got together and started jamming acoustically; playing local pubs, open mics, and parties. A local bassist joined in and it wasn’t long before life long friends, Andrew Barry and Bryan Driscoll joined in to add the heavier punk sound the friends were used to.
They continued to play all sorts of events building a following and friendships with other local bands. Towards the end of 2018 they decided to work with Acadia Recording Company to release their studio demo “Shallow Waters”. Towards the end of the recording process Barry joined the band as the new bassist adding high energy just in time for St. Patrick’s Day and the CD release.
Bringing rowdy drinking music to venues, distilleries, and events throughout New England, Clapping In Irons always has the crowd dancing and singing along.
